You can judge a shop by its milk tea

The best Hong Kong milk tea in the city.

The tea base is brewed fresh every day and pulled through the sock until it is strong enough to stand up to the milk. Ask for cha jau and it is made with condensed milk instead of sugar. Half coffee, half tea, and it is a yuenyeung. Iced is three dollars more.

A neighbourhood cha chaan teng

Sai Wah opened on Thomson Road in November 2023. Wok heat, milk tea and french toast, done the way a cha chaan teng is meant to do them.

The kitchen is run by its head chef. Breakfast starts at seven and the board turns over to Cantonese plates at dinner. Sunday is a short day, eight until five.
